The Daintree Rainforest has more than 400, 000 visitors a year, from which come from Australia and other parts of the globe to see with their own two eyes. During the dry season this rainforest receives two point four million tourists and during the wet season it receives two point three-six million tourists. Commercial tours account for about one point five million of the visits to the Area, with at least a hundred tour companies offering trips to the region (Wet Tropics Management Authority, pers. comm., 1995). Tourism might be good for the companies but is it really good for the actual rainforest itself?
Deforestation and pollution are major threats to the Daintree Rainforest. This rainforest is only an eighth of the size it used to be. Trees are being cut down every day. People and animals are losing their homes and are affected by the deforestation. People are taking the lives of these trees and the life of the rainforest to make roads that lead right through the rainforest, this is a major threat to all animals. Logging is made so that there is room for sugarcane farming, this should not be allowed because we are slowly losing the Daintree Rainforest, why should we increase the possibilities of destroying it? Think of all the work, effort and money that is being wasted on logging and deforestation in the Daintree Rainforest, which could be used into rehabilitating it! This is outrageous and it needs to stop, if you vote for us we get the three million dollars to save the Daintree Rainforest. Take a minute to think about this: think of yourself as an animal, you’re happy, you have love, shelter and a family, you are just loving life, but then next thing you know everything you knew was gone. You are only just surviving, you are wondering who did this to you. You realise you are not the only animal suffering. The forest you had lived in for your entire life is completely gone. How do you feel now? Do you still agree with logging? It is not right. It should be banned, in the Daintree Rainforest. Logging, isn't the only problem this rainforest has: pollution and natural disasters are also a big problem as well.
Pollution is being caused by all the tourists and all the vehicles that drive through on the roads. The Daintree Rainforest is becoming polluted and damaged all around. Tourists are littering this rainforest which is causing it, to become dirty and unpleasant. This rubbish includes paper, wrappers, cans, plastic and glass. Land pollution is one of the only visible types of pollution, it is coming into contact with the Daintree's animals and their habitats. Not only that, but it is destroying the significance of Daintree Rainforest and over time it will turn it into a wasteland. Readers, this is a disgrace! Polluting the one and ONLY rainforest in Australia and in a couple of years it will be all gone, thanks to YOU!
Yes, there might be some good outcomes but they are out numbered by numbers by the bad things. People, we need to think. Think before you toss or drive your vehicles through the Daintree Rainforest.
